Comics

March 27, 2009

Too many projects going on at home…we’ve severely fallen behind on photos of our boy.  The forecast is calling for several inches of snow this weekend so we should be able to find time for a few clicks of the shutter.

But for now, in lieu of photos of our adorable boy (who’s started all-out crawling within the last few days), I’ll leave you with my favorite web-comics to tide you over.

What the Duck – It’s about a photographer who’s a duck.  Genius!  Published daily.

xkcd – Not at all photography related, but appealing to engineers, accountants, and geeks everywhere.  It’s tag line is pretty accurate “a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language”  Published on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  If you visit the site, make sure you point your mouse over the strip…the mouseover comments are usually just as funny as the comic.

Especially now that the weather’s getting nicer, it’s a nighly ritual in our household to take a post-dinner walk around the neighborhood.  Sometimes, when we’re in need of groceries, we’ll walk to the grocery store.  The store is less than a mile from our house, it gives us an opportunity to walk with a purpose in mind, it’s environmentally friendly, yada, yada.  Tonight we needed some more oatmeal for the G-man, so a walk to the store seemed in order.

As we were checking out with our baby oatmeal and applesauce, Erin’s interaction with the cashier went something like this:

Cashier:  “Hello”

Erin:  “Hi”

Cashier:  “Do you have a Pick n Save card”

Erin:  “Here you go”

Cashier:  “Dizwic?”

Erin:  “Huh?”

Cashier:  “Izzwic?”

Erin:  “What?”

Cashier:  “Doizzwic?”

Erin:  (ignored him)

At this point we finished checking out.

Cashier:  “There’s a WIC program that your baby food and applesauce falls under.  I was askin’ you if it was WIC.”

We proceeded to exit the store.

Ryan:  “I think he just asked us if we are homeless.”

It might be time to start dressing nicer and driving a car to the store.

I think our little G-man is within days of full-out crawling. Over the last week or so, his mobility has steadily been on the incline. He’s got the back, to tummy, to all fours or sitting upright down pat. So much so, and to the dismay of his sleep deprived parents, he likes to practice in his crib in the middle of the night. He just doesn’t have the coordination for combined hand and knee movement down yet. But he’s oh so close. It’s exciting that he’s almost to the point of full mobility, but worrisome at the same time. We have a lot of work to do to get the house ready for a baby on the move.

And of course, always with the drool.

Blog updates

March 12, 2009

My apologies that the blog updates have been coming slowly as of late. I’ve been working on a few updates behind the scenes. One improvement that you may be interested in is the ability to sign up for email notification when new posts are published. Just click the “Email Notification” link in the navigation bar and enter your email address.

If you don’t want to subscribe to updates, perhaps you can consider using a blog reader such as Bloglines.  It’s my favorite way to keep up on the blogs I’m subscribed to.

And since this is a photo blog, here’s one of G relaxing in his high chair after enjoying a nice hearty banana-oatmeal breakfast.

Vacation at home

March 8, 2009

Mommy and daddy both had off of work on Friday, and G-unit was incredibly happy to have both of his parents at home spending time with him.  We went for a lot of walks around the neighborhood and spent time just generally hanging around outside.  The temperatures reached the upper 50’s Friday…and after 5 months of cold it felt wonderful.

G’s back to sticking his tongue out again.  It’s funny how he cycles through different quirks like that.  Here are some photos of our time on the driveway Friday.
