In Internet age, this video may be a little old by now at 26 days but it still makes me laugh. It’s probably because on some level, fathers everywhere can so easily relate.
Dad Life
July 16, 2010world’s largest penny
July 15, 2010The summer has left me with less and less time to even get photos off my camera, let alone blog about them. But I was getting ready for our upcoming camping trip by cleaning the photos off momma’s camera, and found this one of the crew in front of the world’s largest penny in Woodruff, WI. It seemed too silly not to post.
chillin on the first day of summer
June 21, 2010While it’s officially the first day of summer, it feels like it’s been summer for months already. The calendar is nearly full-up through about August, and many projects are already in various stages of completeness. Sadly, as expected, blogging photos of G-Man has again fallen to the bottom of the todo list. It’s unfortunate, really, since we’ve taken a lot of cute photos over the last couple of months. But I look back on them now and can already see how much he’s changed and think it would be silly to post them. Maybe they’ll be resurrected in roughly 2040 for the slide show at G’s wedding.
In any case, we did have a fun time last weekend at the lake for neighbor-reunion weekend. Here’s one of G we snapped on the way to the Three Lakes Winery.
summertime dining on the back patio
April 30, 2010Slowly but surely, we’ve actually been having a fairly nice spring here in Wisconsin. We even found a few days to sit out and have dinner on the back patio…G-Money in his short-sleeves, swimming trunks, and Sponge Bob camp chair seemed to provide a nice slice of life I’m glad we got captured. Momma had him laughing hysterically at her antics.
southeast wisconsin’s premier general contractors
April 23, 2010I may have mentioned that things have been very busy in the ShutterFamily household these past few months…is it almost May already? One of the projects daddy was involved with was helping Great Uncle Dean get his web-presence established for his business: JD Premier Construction. We traveled to a few different sites to take some photographs of the projects his company has done, and put a website together to showcase their work. Below are a few of the photographs we took, but they really don’t do justice to the level of craftsmanship and quality apparent in the work they do. If you’re in the need for some general contracting work, make sure to visit jdpremier.com.
Here’s a garage JD converted into one of the coolest living spaces in all of Grafton. Yes, you read that right, this used to be a garage.
A custom staircase built for a home on Lake Drive in Milwaukee. Visit JD Premier to see photos of more of the work they did to completely remodel this home.
And finally, some photos of a custom kitchen JD renovated in Menomonee Falls. They also did a complete bathroom remodel as well.
g-unit up close and happy springtime
April 20, 2010It has been a very busy few couple of months for G-Unit and his parents…and we have a lot of updates to share in the coming weeks. But for now, we’re excited that spring is here and we have a summer-ful of nice weather to look forward to (which in Wisconsin, translates into about 4 months).
For now, we’ll leave you with a supersized, contemplative G for your enjoyment.
in his defense, that was one freaky looking easter bunny
April 3, 2010This past week, we continued our tradition of freaking out the G man by taking him to visit the odd-ball costumed character representative of the impending holiday. In this case, of course, it was the Easter Bunny. These photos were taken of G getting as close as he was going to get to the admittedly weird-looking looking bunny. It didn’t help that he was also freaked out by the clown outside who was handing out balloons, requiring him to keep one eye on the bunny and one eye on the clown at all times.
He did have a bit more fun at the Menomonee Falls Easter Egg Hunt, scoring some good treats, and mini container of bubbles.
vacationing with the grandmas and grandpas
March 8, 2010G got some much needed R&R by spending a long weekend with each of his grandparents. Mommy and daddy seized the opportunity to be kid-less for a few days and promptly fled the country. As G-Money puts it…”mommy and daddy went to Mex-ee-co!”
Mommy and daddy soaked in a lot of sun…
We spent a lot of time taking in the beautiful grounds at the Valentin Imperial Maya.
Lots of time eating some wonderful food.
And of course, lots of time getting some much needed sleep.
Thanks again grandmas and grandpas for taking such wonderful care of our boy. He had a blast and can’t wait for his next sleep-over vacations at your houses!
our heart pumps green and gold
February 8, 2010The Saints may have been declared World Champions this year, but our beloved Green and Gold are going to be poised to make a run in 2010. We’ve got one of the top young arms in the league in A-Rodge. I can’t even remember who our old quarterback was.
And thanks great grandma and great grandpa for our new Packers hat and gloves!
stylin’ with g…or should we say, gq
January 22, 2010Daddy’s last attempt at giving G-Money an at-home haircut was less than stellar. The left side got a little crooked, and before daddy had time to fix it, mommy confiscated the scissors. As anyone with a one-year old knows, cutting hair that’s constantly in motion is no small feat. So it was time to call in the professionals.
Here’s G’s before shot…a bit long and a little crooked.

He’s not really sure what to think when things got started.

And the after. Mommy and daddy weren’t sure how it would all play out, but G handled the whole experience like a pro. His only problem now is fighting off all the ladies.
